Company History

Nelson Brothers was founded by two brothers, Anton and Nels. Nelson, Danish immigrants. Settling originally in Iowa, both brothers installed irrigation lines for the farming industry. The promise of higher pay working in the factories soon lured them to Detroit, Mi. Unhappy with factory life, both brothers began working in the evenings and on weekends installing sewer lines as freelance contractors. Then in 1925 they left the factory forever to pursue their dream of self-employment and Nelson Bros. was born.


In the 1950’s Nelson Bros. ownership changed to Elmer and Edwin Nelson, the son’s of Anton Nelson. The business expanded from its primary focus of sewer installations to include sewer maintenance. Then in the early 1960’s the business further expanded its focus to include plumbing repairs and installations where the bulk of our business is concentrated today. In 1958 Nelson Bros. built their headquarters in Royal Oak where it remains today. Nelson Bros. continues to be family owned and operated. Four generations of Nelson’s have serviced residential and commercial customers in Southern Oakland County, Mi. for over 85 years.

Warranty Details

WARRANTY VALID – Monday thru Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM

  • Nelson Bros. provides a 90-day warranty for plumbing repairs and a 30-day warranty for sewer or drain cleaning.
  • Nelson Bros. provides a one-year warranty on fixtures and 90-day warranty on labor for the new installation of company provided fixtures and related parts.
  • Nelson Bros. provides a 90-day warranty on labor only for customer provided parts and/or fixtures.
  • Nelson Bros. does not warrant customer provided fixtures and related parts.
  • The warranty may be reduced or eliminated on sewer or drain cleaning due to excessive roots, foreign objects, sewers in need of repair or replacement, and sewers greater than 100ft in length without an additional cleanout.
  • No warranty on commercial drains, toilet augers, urinal augers, and roof vents.
  • Nelson Bros. does not perform warranty work after hours or on the weekends.
